The CA168-S Din Rail prepaid electricity meter is an STSA certified meter, compliant with the SANS1524 series standards. This meter type is widely used in African counties such as Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, Ethiopia, South Africa, Angola, Botswana, and etc. The Din Rail mounting design is for saving space and multi-metering clusters, and most applicable for multi-dweller complex or apartment buildings.
The split design is designed for maximum security against fraud, while retaining the customer's convenience. The main measurement and control unit (MCU) is in Din-Rail structure. The MCU is mounted inaccessible for the user while the CIU is installed at a point of convenience within the customer's premises. The customer can always check his/ her power usage and related information by the customer interface unit (CIIU). The communication between MCU and CIU is performed by the power line carrier (PLC), current loop, RF or other communication definded by the costomer.
With MCU centralized installation, service providers will not need to enter customers' premises during the process of checking and maintenance, which greatly reduces the management cost and improves efficiency.
